Coming home...
As you perhaps know, more than four weeks ago I have bought a new wig at The Hair Lounge in The Hague. After a long deliberation, I concluded that apparently I missed some form of hair more than I've always told myself. The fact that in recent months the balance went over to my feminine side, will undoubtedly have contributed to that assessment. When people ask me 'what am I', I usually refer to the Dutch television program by Arie Boomsma, "He's a she". I see meself as "He's a she too." That suggests something of a middle position, a balance between man and woman, which I thought for a long time would be my modus operandi, giving me peace of mind. After a long struggle with myself and my environment, I thought to have found this way in the middle, where - to a certain degree - I can be myself. I hoped to have found a balance in my life and in the life of my beloved ones, but it appears to be a mistake. Wearing men's clothes increasingly started to annoy me and I tended more and more to androgynous clothing and for clothing meant for the opposite sex, clothes that suit me better emotionally. I deliberately say emotionally because physically of course it is far from perfect ;-).And so my feminine side becomes stronger and stronger at the expense of my masculine side, with the result that last week for the first time in my life (!) I decided to give the woman in myself the necessary space. And it felt great. It's hard to put into words that feeling, but it felt like a relief. All the pieces fell into place, so to speak. Of course, at the same time, it was pretty scary to expose myself, but eventually the feeling of being myself overcame my fear of being vulnerable. Being myself, walking in the street, shopping, that felt really good, a feeling of coming home! However, this observation has a downside, as everything has a downside, because very slowly the ultimate consequence of this feeling of coming home penetrates on me: that I wasn't the transgender I thought I was, namely a transgender in the middle (both male and female, or neither man nor wife), but that I actually was born in the wrong body...
